“I knew I would score despite the tight marking on me” – Emenike

emmanuel emenikeEmmanuel Emenike has stated that he remained confidence that he would score at the right time, despite the close marking he got from Ethiopian defenders in the Super Eagles’ 2-1 win over the Walya Antelopes.

The home side are gone ahead ten minutes after the break, before Emenike rifled in the equaliser and then scored from the spot in the 90th minute, to seal victory for Nigeria.
“I was not worried at all even though they were marking me very tight,” Emenike told KickOffNigeria “I knew I could score with a shot because my shots are very strong, I just wanted to get the right moment.”

The Fenerbahce striker also insisted that the players were not worried or under pressure, as the Ethiopians attacked with aggression.

He said: “We were not worried. We knew that they would come at us, and we had to save our energy for the second half.”

Emenike also admitted that the team was close to Brazil now, but called on them to finish off the work on November 16.

“It is not over yet, we still have to play the remaining 90 minutes at home. After that, we can celebrate,” he concluded.
