40 Nigerians Arrested Over Italian Visa Racketeering

The Special Fraud Unit, SFU, of the police in Lagos, yesterday, said it had arrested 40 Nigerians who allegedly attempted to secure Italian visa using fake documents, ranging from forged statement of accounts, fake travelling documents and many others.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Special Fraud Unit, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, the arrest of the suspects was made possible by a written request received from the Consulate General of Italy in Lagos to carry out investigations on the 40 suspects who submitted fake and forged documents to Italian Embassy in a bid to travel out of the country.

FREE MONEY: Crowds Flock To ATM As It Starts Spewing Out Free Notes

Dozens of people flocked to a cash machine after word spread that it had started giving out free money.
 Around 60 people queued up at the ATM in Mansfield Woodhouse, Notts, before the fault was spotted by bosses and the cash machine put of service.

The Lloyds Bank ATM in Mansfield Woodhouse, Notts, malfunctioned and began spewing out notes as customers withdrew cash yesterday morning.

A spokesman for Lloyds Bank said investigations had begun into how the error occurred and the group would not be able to provide details on how much cash was taken from the ATM.

It is not thought that individuals who cashed in will not be pursued to reimburse the bank.

Bloody Tuesday In Maiduguri As Boko Haram Sets Off Car Bomb

A car bomb has exploded in Maiduguri, Borno State leaving many dead and several others injured.

People covered in blood were seen fleeing as vehicles crashed into each other, while soldiers fired in the direction of the explosion.

A suicide bomber is suspected of being behind the blast which reportedly occurred near a busy market around 1 P.M. as Muslims marked the Eid-el-Maulud.

The military confirmed to the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC that an explosion had occurred, but did not give a figure for casualties.

An eyewitness said he had seen what appeared to be dead bodies on the ground, and another spoke of seven fatalities.

A second car is reported to have been set on fire by the blast but details are still sketchy.

13 Passengers Burnt Beyond Recognition As Jerrycan Of Petrol Inside Bus Bursts Into Flame In Delta

Thirteen persons, including children, were on Sunday afternoon burnt beyond recognition in a bus accident which occurred in Effurun, Delta.

The accident, which involved an 18-seater bus, also left five of its passengers with various degrees of burn injuries.

An eyewitness told newsmen that the vehicle was coming from the PTI roundabout, but stopped to pick a passenger who allegedly carried a jerrycan filled with petrol.

One of the survivors, Mr Martins Nwaowolo, said there were 18 passengers in the bus, including children and a pregnant woman.

“The driver stopped at the roundabout to pick a woman carrying a jerrycan, and in less than two minutes after the woman entered the bus, the jerrycan burst into flame.

13-year-old Boy Commits Suicide In Ondo

Tragedy struck in Akure when a 13 year old primary five pupil, Awal Osisi committed suicide in Akure, Ondo state.
No one could say why the boy might have committed suicide, but the police in the state is said to be investigating the alleged death of the boy and has arrested his step mother who is now being detained.
The boy was said to have committed suicide in his parents’ house located at High School area of Akure. He was allegedly found in his parents’ room hanging by the door on Wednesday by using a belt to hang himself.
It was his step mother, Mrs Rukayat Osisi, who reportedly raised alarm at about 10.00am when she discovered Awal’s body dangling down the door.

The two girls identified as Favour and Ndidi from Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of the state, were students of College of Education, Agbor and were among those living in a private hostel adjacent the college.
According to an eyewitness, “the unfortunate incident occurred while they were sleeping in the hostel. The fire started at about midnight unknown to neighbours that the two girls were in their rooms.”
