How to Build Your Self Confidence

self confidence                              How to Build Your Self Confidence
What is Self Confidence? self confidence put in a simple way is, assurance: freedom from doubt; belief in yourself and your abilities.

MOST youths struggle with uncertainties about their appearance and their abilities, as well as how they measure up to others. they can not even handle unfair remarks from their peers they feel so unhappy and insecure, all these are signs of lack of self confidence.

How Can You Boost Your Self Confidence?
There are practical ways by which you can boost your self confidence, the steps needs to applied in your day to day life for your self confidence to be boosted.

1. Appreciate Yourself: Granted, you might  not look too physically attractive or possess much skill or training,  but its never true that you are not at all attractive or good looking or even possess some exceptional skills which other of your peers may not possess. first, although you might have limitations, try and analyze your strength.Don’t tell yourself such things as ‘I always fail’ and ‘I never do anything right.’ Such overstatements only keep you down. Instead, acknowledge your shortcomings but also recognize your strengths.

2. Choose Your Friends Wisely: Some people are good in criticizing or finding fault in other people, they never see good in other people. instead of making friends with such people and trying to fit in to their perfectionist kind of lifestyle, try and make friends with those who look inwards to see the good you can offer and who will point out your mistakes where necessary but will never keep emphasizing on them.

3. Give of Yourself: You can also apply yourself to good and kind deeds. reasonable people will love and appreciate you naturally and sincerely when you offer or add value to their lives irrespective of how you look or your possible shortcomings. when you add value to someones life you will find internal joy and happiness.

4. Bounce Back from Your Mistakes: Its normal for us to make mistakes as imperfect humans that we are. when that happens, do not dwell on your mistakes, learn from it and try and move on possitively, dwelling on a mistake can affect your self confidence negatively.

5. Open Up: Try to open up or be cheerful at all times, there maybe times your peers might make fun of you or even say sarcastic things or make unfair remark, if people around laugh at you, do not feel bad outwardly no matter how it hurts, if it is possible join them and laugh too. your peers will continue making fun of you if they notice that you feel bad or get hurt by their remarks, but they will leave you alone if they notice that you even laugh more than them, then when it is wise you can take your leave if you are not comfortable being around them.

6. Dress Up and Go UP: It has been noted that dressing when it fits can boost your self confidence. do not dress to please your peers you may end up wearing what might not fit you  and that might cause more embarrassment. make sure your clothes are neat and worn properly according to the occasion.

These few steps will help you boost your self confidence and help you see things as they truly are. always remember that the greatest love of all is learning to love yourself.

Man killed by hit-and-run motorists

man killed by okadaSome residents of the Olopomeji end of Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos State on Monday cried after one of them, identified only as Emmanuel, was crushed by a vehicle while attempting to cross the expressway.

PUNCH Metro learnt that after the deceased was knocked down by the vehicle, other oncoming vehicles heading towards the Third Mainland Bridge also ran over him.

It was learnt that the corpse was left on the road for hours until emergency officials arrived the scene.

When our correspondent visited the scene, relatives of the deceased were seen crying while the corpse was being conveyed into an ambulance.

Our correspondent also observed a pedestrian bridge about 60 metres from where the incident occurred.

Residents, however, blamed the government over the incident.

PUNCH Metro had reported on June 11, 2013 that the Chairman, Kosofe Local Government, Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Sofola,  ordered the sealing of the pedestrian bridge due to its derelict state.

It had also been reported that the bridge, which was constructed by the Federal Government in the 1970s had been in a state of disrepair for over two years.

Speaking with our correspondent at the scene on Monday, the General Secretary, Council of Oworonshoki Youth Forum, Babajide Kabiawu, described Emmanuel’s death as an avoidable tragedy.

He said the deceased, who was also his friend, was not married and his mother was an employee of the state government.

He added that it was because of the dilapidated state of the bridge that the deceased resorted to crossing the road. He said at least four others had been injured recently while attempting to cross the expressway.

He said the condition of the bridge was regrettable, as the community had made representations to the government without getting results.

He said, “In 2011, when we lodged complaints about this bridge, a representative of the Federal Ministry of Works, South West Zone, was here. He promised to write a report to the headquartres in Abuja. But it is saddening that up till now, nothing has been done about it. Is it when lives are involved that they will be bothered?’’

When contacted on the telephone, the assistant Police Public Relations Officer, Damasus Ozoani, confirmed Emmanuel’s death to our correspondent.

“The incident occurred around 4am on Monday. No vehicle was identified but the corpse has been recovered,” he said.

LAGBUS crushes soldier to death in Lagos

Lagbus crushes soldierTragedy struck on Monday on the Funsho Williams Avenue bypass, Surulere, Lagos State, after a yet-to-be identified soldier was crushed to death by a LAGBUS, one of the buses in the state mass transit scheme.

Commuters plying the bridge could not help but watch in horror as the mangled body of the soldier was cut into two by the bus.

Eyewitnesses said the  victim  who was riding a motorcycle, was also carrying a woman on the back seat. The passenger was reportedly flung away by the impact of the collision.

She was said to be in a critical condition and had been taken to an unknown hospital in the state.

It was further learnt that the bus driver, after seeing the extent of the damage, removed his uniform and fled the scene.

The vehicle passengers also took to their heels to avoid reprisals by soldiers.

A mechanic, Taiwo Akindele, said the accident was caused by the bad state of the bridge.

He said, “The accident happened around 7.30am. It involved a red LAGBUS with number ‘30’ written on the body. It did not have a number plate.

“The driver was on top speed, not knowing the bridge was dilapidated. As he approached a bad spot on the bridge, the vehicle began to swerve dangerously towards the left of the bridge.

“But the driver turned the steering and the soldier, who was on a motorcycle, was pinned to the railing of the bridge. As the bus driver strived to control it, the bus dragged the soldier and cut through his bowel. He died on the spot.”

Akindele added that other soldiers arrived at the scene around 10am, while their presence caused panic in the area.

A Lagos State ambulance, which came to evacuate the deceased, was reportedly chased away by the angry soldiers.

A source said, “The whole place was filled with heavy military presence. Everybody was afraid. The soldiers later called in their own vehicle to carry the corpse. They were armed and looked menacing.”

He said the accident also drew the presence of members of the Federal Road Safety Corps and policemen.

A trader under the bridge told our correspondent that there had been four of such accidents within a space of three months due to the condition of the bridge.

Our correspondent observed that two connecting slabs of the bridge were almost pulling apart which usually forced drivers to move slowly when they got to the point.

Around 2pm, another tragedy was averted when a petrol tanker belonging to AP, and marked XA 273 AUG, broke down after the driver’s compartment caved in.

The driver had applied the brake when the incident happened. He was however able to escape without much injuries.

A resident who pleaded anonymity said, “This is not the first time we will be witnessing accidents here. We all are afraid for our lives.”

Another resident, Biodun Falola pleaded with the government to do something about the bridge which had become a death trap.

The Managing Director of LAGBUS, Mr. Babatunde Disu, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on the telephone, adding that the driver had been handed over to the police.

He said, “He only ran away as a safety precaution. We have since handed him over to the police for further investigations.”

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, when contacted, said she was in a meeting and would get back to our correspondent.

24-hour Curfew Imposed On Kafanchan

kaduna state government Following alleged secret killings which led to minor clashes on Thursday night, and allegedly led to the killing of an undisclosed number of people, a 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Kafanchan, headquarters of Jama’a local government area of Kaduna state. Tension, according to sources, had been building up in the area since Monday, after the gruesome killing on Monday of a young man by yet to be identified culprit(s), which led the people to believe the persistent killings earlier thought to have been perpetrated by armed robbers was the handiwork of some hoodlums, leading to a mass protest on Tuesday by the youths in the area. It was gathered that since Tuesday’s protest, there had been skirmishes, leading to mounting tension in the city, prompting the imposition of the 24 hour curfew. Meanwhile, the state government and the leadership of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) has appealed for calm while a combined team of soldiers and the Police have been deployed to the area to ensure that normalcy returns. In a statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, State Governor, Mukthar Yero called on the people of the area to remain calm and law abiding, saying that government was doing all within its powers to contain the situation. The governor said security agencies in the state had been directed to take necessary action to restore peace and normalcy to the area. He also warned those fomenting trouble in the state to desist from their devilish plots to plunge the state into confusion, adding that “as a responsible Government, we shall not shirk our constitutional duty of protecting the lives and property of the entire people of Kaduna state no matter what it will take.” Yero assured that the government was already investigating the root cause of the conflict and will not hesitate to prosecute anyone found culpable, irrespective of their status in the society and asked the people of the state to go about their lawful businesses in disregard of rumours that may be intended to escalate the situation.

How to Prepare for a Successful Marriage (part 3)Making courtship work

making courtship work

How Can You Make a Success of Courtship?Read (part 1)&(part 2)
To make a success of courtship, you must make sure that your moral conduct is above reproach. sex is for two people who are married and should be kept in its proper place. relationships based on sex and money in most cases do not eventually work out. you must never cheapen or displease yourself because you want to get married, always maintain your intergrity. sex is best enjoyed on your wedding night when it has been waited for and endured over time.Be careful that displays of affection do not escalate into unclean conduct or even fornication.
Still there are some relationships that might have started off a bit wrongly, its not that every relationship must fail or not lead to marriage because the parties involved had sex, but some eventually do, if you are having sex in your relationship you might want to ask yourself, "what will i enjoy on the night of my wedding?" my best humble advice is to quit. when you cut sex off in a courtship it helps you concentrate on the more important things and helps you quicken your pace to marriage.
Because the heart is treacherous, both of you would be wise to avoid being isolated in a house, an apartment, a parked automobile, or anywhere else that would give opportunity for wrong conduct.
Keeping your courtship morally clean gives clear evidence that you have self-control and that you put unselfish concern for the other person’s welfare ahead of your own desires.
Communication: is a very vital part of a relationship, the communication line should always remain opened. if your parner lives far off, both of you can still work things out, there should be a steady flow of communication, in these era of social networks and video calls, communication has become a lot easier and even cheaper and you can communicate with each other even face to face as if you were near.
Talk about issues that might present a challenge later in the future like, do you want to have children? how many do you want? where will you both live? will you both work secularly? also discuss about extended families, will your parents or sibblings live with you? how many? these questions and many more should be discussed so that it will not later present a problem in the family.
Preparing for the Wedding:
Some people spend more money on the wedding and arrangements more than they will even spend on the marriage. some spend to please friends and families leaving them financially drained and exhausted.
Make a budget, do not try to please anyone or do not follow slavish customs that can overshadow the meaning of the occasion and may rob you of the joy that you should have.
Remember that your wedding lasts just one day, but your marriage lasts a lifetime. Avoid concentrating too much on the act of getting married. plan ahead for a life of being married. Then you will have prepared well for a successful marriage.

Nairobi Mall Shooting: Gunmen Throw Grenades, Open Fire At Upscale Shopping Center, 39 Dead

gun men

NAIROBI, Kenya — Gunmen threw grenades and opened fire Saturday killing at least 22 people in an attack targeting non-Muslims at an upscale mall in Kenya's capital that was hosting a children's day event, a Red Cross official and witnesses said.

The attackers remained inside and firing subsided as military surrounded the mall hours after the attack. People continued to trickle out from hiding places within the Westgate mall, which is frequented by expatriates and rich Kenyans in Nairobi's affluent Westlands neighborhood.

Kenya Red Cross official Abbas Gullet said at least 22 people were killed in the attack that police blamed on terrorists. He said the death toll would likely rise.

"We are treating this as a terrorist attack," said police chief Benson Kibue, adding that there are likely no more than 10 attackers involved.

Police did not say what group was responsible for the attack.

Somali's rebel group al-Shabab vowed in late 2011 to carry out a large-scale attack in Nairobi in retaliation for Kenya's sending of troops into Somalia to fight the Islamic insurgents.

Off duty Sgt. Major Frank Mugungu said Saturday he saw four male attackers and one female, and that he could clearly identify one of the gunmen as a Somali, though he could not identify the rest.

The Westgate mall, with shops like Nike, Adidas and Bose, has Israeli ownership, and security personnel have in the past identified the mall as a likely terror target in the city.

Elijah Kamau, who was at the mall at the time of the midday attack, said that the gunmen made a declaration that non-Muslims would be targeted.

"The gunmen told Muslims to stand up and leave. They were safe, and non-Muslims would be targeted," he said.

Jay Patel, who sought cover on an upper floor in the mall when shooting began, said that when he looked out of a window onto the upper parking deck of the mall he saw the gunmen with a group of people.

Patel said that as the attackers were talking, some of the people stood up and left and the others were shot.

The gunmen carried AK-47s and wore vests with hand grenades on them, said Manish Turohit, 18, who hid in a parking garage for two hours.

"They just came in and threw a grenade. We were running and they opened fire. They were shouting and firing," he said after being marched out of the mall in line with about 15 people who held their hands in the air.

Rob Vandijk, who works at the Dutch embassy, said he was eating at a restaurant inside the mall when attackers lobbed hand grenades inside the building. He said gunfire then burst out and people screamed as they dropped to the ground.

It appears the attack began at the outdoor seating area of Artcaffe at the front of the mall, witnesses said.

Patrick Kuria, an employee at Artcaffe, said: "We started by hearing gunshots downstairs and outside. Later we heard them come inside. We took cover. Then we saw two gunmen wearing black turbans. I saw them shoot."

Some people were shot at the entrance to the mall after volleys of gunfire moved outside and a standoff with police began. Ambulances continued to stream in and out of the mall area, ferrying the wounded who gradually emerged from hiding inside the mall.

People clutched their small children, and some cried. At one point in the day mall guards used shopping carts to wheel out wounded children.

A local hospital was overwhelmed with the number of wounded being brought in hours after the attack, so they had to divert them to a second facility.    news from huffingtonpost

How to Prepare for a Successful Marriage(part 2)Getting a Mate

how to prepare for marriage

What  to Look  for  in  a Mate:   (Read the part 1 here!)
Everyone has choices and what they will want their mate to possess. some though have made so many mistakes in setting unrealistic standards and these standards and unnecessary choices has made a lot of people who are of marriage age remain unmarried.
It is not wrong to set standards or have choices as explained above, but the point is making a reasonable and realistic choice is a great key to finding a suitable mate as well as happiness in a marriage. when you approach someone of the opposite sex whom you find attractive or that you want to settle down with, feel free to approach the person after you have done proper self scrutiny, you might start by asking yourself, Is marriage really my intention? you need to be sure before you proceed because it is very wrong to toil with someones emotion. there are some cases you approach someone of the opposite sex with sincere intention and the response you get is negative. in that case you do not have to force yourself on someone or become pushy or even beg someone to pity you and fall in love. if that should happen it can later lead to frustration, so do not persist to the point of being objectionable, remember that the other person has a right to make choices too and you might not be the persons choice.
Compatibility: you obviously need a mate that is compatible with you. you do not have to be in a relationship with someone with a different idea believes or that your character or personality is different from, understanding yourself might be very difficult. do not look for a mate that is wise, or that knows everything, marry someone who is teachable and quick to make adjustments when needed.
You do not have to look for a perfect mate, you can always love that imperfect person perfectly.
Physical appearance: it is not entirely bad or wrong if your mate is physically endowed or attractive, but placing emphasis on someones appearance when it comes to marriage can lead to a disastrous end. inner qualities and beauty should always come first and the paramount consideration before anything else for you to make a success of marriage.
The truth is: you can never find anyone who shares your entire beliefs, ideas, values and your thoughts.do not ask: "Do we agree on everything? it might be wise to rather ask: "What happens when we disagree?"
If you want to get married, be wary of anyone who is proud and opinionated, never willing to compromise, or who constantly demands and schemes to have his or her own way.
Find  Out  Before Hand
There are some basic questions that can help you analyze properly the person you want to marry, For example, a woman might ask, “What kind of reputation does this man have? Who are his friends? Does he display self-control? How does he treat elderly persons? What kind of family does he come from? How does he interact with them? What is his attitude toward money? Does he abuse alcoholic beverages? Is he temperamental, even violent? Could I deeply respect him?” A man might ask, “Does this woman display love and respect? Is she capable of caring for a home? What will her family expect of us? Is she wise, industrious, thrifty? What does she talk about? Is she genuinely concerned about the welfare of others, or is she self-centered, a busybody? Is she trustworthy? Is she willing to submit to headship, or is she stubborn, perhaps even rebellious?”
Although the above questions will surely help you to analyze things, but you should still give room for imperfections, do not expect a replica of a hero or a heroine from a romance movie or novel, every human on earth have shortcomings or limitations and some of these will have to be overlooked by the both partners.
What, though, if you notice things that trouble you deeply? Such doubts should be considered carefully. However romantic you may feel or however anxious you may be to get married, do not close your eyes to serious faults. If you have a relationship with someone about whom you have serious reservations, it is wise to discontinue the relationship and to refrain from making a lasting commitment to that person.

Virgin Mary Apparition Appeared In Philadelphia Bush 60 Years Ago This Week

virgin mary photos

Sixty years ago this week, the Virgin Mary appeared for three Catholic school girls in a Philadelphia park bush, prompting tens of thousands of pilgrimages.

On Sept. 18, 1953, the girls were on their way home from St. Gregory's Roman Catholic parochial school. On the perimeter of Fairmount Park, Margaret Keville, Mary Hagerty and Roseann Pinto, all 14 years old, saw a vision of Mary in a blue veil and white gown, City Paper reports.

Their claim sent 70,000 believers and gawkers to the site by October of that year. Many visitors said they felt a breeze and the scent of roses coming from the bush, while others said the bush had healing powers. Meanwhile, some church officials claimed the whole thing was a "mass hallucination," the paper reported.

Rumor had it that her visage would appear again on Oct. 25 in 1953, but she didn't show up. By that time, the bush was adorned with rosaries, prayer cards and more than $53,000 in cash (adjusted for inflation). The crowds began to dwindle shortly after the botched event, but the bush -- and a wooden cross -- still stand at the site today.

A photo (above) titled "1953 Miracle at Fairmount Park" and kept at Temple University Libraries, shows an emotional crowd gathering around the bush. The City Paper reports that the bush and a shrine dedicated to it were posted on tourism materials until 1983.

There are still plenty of people talking about their memories of the "miracle" online.

Mary shows herself in many forms and many places, at least according to the people who see her. In May, an Ohio couple claims the Virgin Mary appeared in a photo they took of their daughter, who was battling leukemia at the time.

Late last year, there were two sightings in the New York area. Onlookers were especially excited about a tree trunk that showed her sacred image in Sleepy Hollow. Less than two weeks earlier, hundreds flocked to yet another tree trunk sighting in West New York.

About 23 persons were Tuesday killed, while several others were abducted when suspected members of the outlawed Boko Haram sect dressed in military laid siege on the Maiduguri/Damaturu highway.

The gunmen were also said to have burnt about 100 houses, shops and scores of vehicles in Benisheikh town, which lies on a highway of about 72-kilometre West of Maiduguri.

According to police sources and eyewitnesses, the sect members were said to have dressed in military fatigues on Tuesday evening, attacking motorists on the highway near Benisheikh town of Borno State, killing about 23 persons, and abducting several others in the process.

Sources hinted further that many among those killed were residents of Maiduguri, who had journeyed to Damaturu and other parts of Yobe State to make phone calls as the GSM lines remained lockdown in Borno State since May, this year, following a clampdown on insurgents.

Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser on Labour to Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, who hails from the town, Alhaji Garba Ngamdu, told journalists that the gunmen killed five persons in Benisheikh and set ablaze about 100 houses and shops.

“The attack occurred in the evening of Tuesday at about 6 p.m., when the Boko Haram gunmen attacked our town, killing five persons and burning several houses, not less than hundred had been counted. They also attacked motorists and killed several persons of which I cannot give actual figure of casualties,” Ngamdu said.

He added that: “Based on the information at hand only five residents of the area were killed. A large chunk of the victims were motorists travelling on the highway although we do not have a tentative figure yet.”

State Police Commissioner, Mr. Tanko Lawan confirmed the incident to journalists yesterday, but said the command was yet to get details of the incident.

“It was an unfortunate incident that happened in Benisheikh. But we are yet to get details of what happened especially on casualty figure. We have sent a team of our men down there to ascertain what happened so that we can brief the press properly,” Lawan said.

Recounting his ordeal to journalists in Maiduguri, a commercial driver, Mr. Haliru Ismail said his vehicle was burnt and some of his passengers were shot at, while others were taken away by the gunmen.

Ismail added that: “The gunmen, who attacked us were dressed like soldiers, and carrying heavy arms”, adding that: “After they stopped us, they asked us all to come down from the bus; and then one of them hit me on the head with the b*tt of his gun. It was then I knew they were not soldiers and I had to fall on the ground and pretend to be unconscious. They started firing, and asking some others including women to enter their packed vehicles. They were more than 30 in number dressed in military uniform.”

Troops had since been deployed to the area to hunt down the members of the outlawed sect.

Crocodile Lies In Wait Under Sleeping Man’s Bed

crocodile

In Zimbabwe, if there’s a monster hiding under your bed, it may just be an 8-foot crocodile.

Guy Whittall recently discovered as much when he heard a maid scream from his room at the Humani Ranch one morning. The 40-year-old had managed to sleep the entire night without noticing there was a crocodile under his bed.

According to Caters News Agency, Whittall blissfully slept more than eight hours on the low-lying bed, completely unaware of what was concealed beneath. The former cricket player, who currently serves as director of the family-owned lodge, even recalled hanging his feet over the side of his bed for some time in the morning.

“The really disconcerting thing about the whole episode is the fact that I was sitting on the edge of the bed that morning, barefoot and just centimeters away from the croc,” Whittall said, according to The Telegraph.

After the uninvited guest was exposed, animal control workers were called, and a team roped and dragged the estimated 330-pound creature back to the wild. The crocodile is believed to have come from the Turgwe River, located more than a mile from the ranch.

How to Prepare for a Successful Marriage (part 1)

preparing for marriage

Preparing for marriage requires careful preparation just like building a house. Before the foundation is laid, land must be acquired and the plans drawn up, so typically like building a house, it is very wise to sit down first and count the cost of it both financially and in terms of commitment to determine the readiness so that you wont make a mistake that will lead to regrets. in this article we will see how to prepare for a successful marriage that will bring lasting joy and happiness.

To have a success of marriage,  you first need to have a realistic view of it both the blessings and the cost of being married. there are vital questions you need answers to that will surely guide you to a successful marriage.

1.) How can you tell if you are ready for marriage?
2.)What should you look for in a mate?
3.)How can you make a success of courtship?

ARE YOU READY FOR MARRIAGE?
The first step here is to tell your self the truth. marriage is sweet but very challenging, are you ready for the commitment needed to keep a marriage? there are some of your personal likes or traits that you might have to let go, remember that you will leave your father and mother and even siblings to start a family with someone from a different background and upbringing.
Commitment is needed for you to stick with one person in a marriage, unlike when you were dating, you will not have the liberty anymore to date or try another relationship even if you are not enjoying your present relationship.
Sexual relations outside your home destroys the family and must be avoided, so you need to ask yourself if you are willing to keep yourself for your mate alone, do you love your mate enough not to desire someone else but him or her?
Do not rush into marriage or marry because your friends or everyone around you is getting married, or simply because you see someone enjoying his or marriage so you start fantasizing about it and want to experience it, you need to have a clear and realistic view of marriage before you delve into it.
The truth: although there are some who actually enjoy their marriage, but there might not really be any home without its own problems or challenges, but some are wise enough to let love lead and settle inside before coming out, so you might not see the problems because they have settled it, but you might not have known how enormous the challenge was.
Maturity contributes to a successful marriage too. getting married when the sexual desire is hot can be detrimental or even lead to regrets in marriage. peoples likes and preferences change with time, people who get married too early might feel they made a mistake later when their likes or preferences likely change. so many marriages that fail today are as a result of early marriage and changed or failed expectations.

KNOW YOURSELF FIRST
Marriage will not change your personality. you need to know yourself first, what qualities do you have? what traits do you possess that can lead to a success in marriage? what kind of husband or wife will you make? are you always complaining, or easy to push blames to another person, or are you quick to admit mistakes? Are you gloomy or optimistic?
In choosing a mate or preparing for marriage you need to know yourself first, then your mate. you necessarily do not have to look for your twin in personality because there can never be!but you can honestly look for a mate that his or her personality will compliment yours. for instance, if you are a gloomy or pessimistic kind, what do you think would happen if you marry someone with the same nature? or if you are quick tempered, what will be the out if you marry someone of the same nature and a quarrel or misunderstanding arises between the both of you? when you have traits that needs to work on, its best you work on it before going into marriage because it might poss a challenge to your marriage. no matter how deep rooted your flaws are, with strong determination and effort, you will always conquer. you need to change your personality especially the faulty ones and put on a new one that will compliment your mate.

To be continued...

The Role of the Mother in the Family

mother and child, role of mothersTHE ROLE OF THE MOTHER IN THE FAMILY ARRANGEMENT

From the origin of the first human pair, the role of the wife can never be undermined.the man was lonely and alone, the woman was made for him as a helper and a companion.the holy books have in all respect given women responsibilities, roles that when accomplished will bring fulfillment in a family. life on earth can only be complete when the woman adds
or contribute to the procreation circle. The bible for instance recognizes the woman and accords her importance when it said that a man will leave his father and mother and must stick to his wife and they will become one flesh.

HOW IS THE IMPORTANCE OF WOMEN EMPHASIZED?

The importance of women is emphasized by the enormous duties they owe to their family and the society at large, a woman who fails to fulfill her role in the family will tamper the joy of the society in a number of ways. to buttress this point, The 26th President of the United States,Theodore Roosevelt stated:"It is the tasks connected with the home that are the fundamental tasks of humanity... if the mother does not do her duty, there will either be no next generation, or a next generation that is worse than none at all."

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN BEING A MOTHER?

Being a mother involves more than just becoming pregnant and giving birth to a child, it involves, preparedness, readiness, self-sacrifice, commitment and love. the woman must be prepared for the task of being a wife and a
mother because its demanding and time consuming, but its more fulfilling than any secular work or profession especially when its done right.

She must be ready and expectant when a baby is on the way. the task of raising a baby needs careful thought and readiness. She must be able to offer herself for her family, her children needs her love and attention at all times, and the father too needs care, love and attention, so she should be willing to attend to all these needs when they call.

Commitment is needed because the early stage of catering for a family might seem frustrating especially when things are not clear or going on smoothly in the family. In March 8, 2003, then UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan said: "Study after study has shown that there is no effective development strategy in which women do not play a central role. When women are fully involved, the benefits can be seen immediately: families are healthier and better fed: their income, savings and reinvestment go up." this statement confirms that the society at large can never do without our women, so we appreciate you women and also praise your effort.

THE BASIC ROLES OF WOMEN:

the roles of Women(Mother) include but are not limited to the following:
1.She takes care of her children and her household.
2.she spends more time with the children, so she acts like the teacher, and disciplinarian
during the formative years and the early stages of life.
3.She is the home keeper, though some time women are allowed to work so that the family can
make ends meet, in that case the role of the woman adds up and the family can plan how
to lessen it.
4.She is meant to be a helper or a complement of the man in all areas and circumstances that is worthwhile.
5.She builds her home up in love and cares for her household even at the expense of her own
freedom or time.
6.She sets reasonable standards for her children in the absence of her husband.

The Origin of the Family Arrangement

family arrangementsThe Hebrew term mish·pa·chah' (family), in addition to referring to a household, also means, by extension, a tribe, people, or nation. The Greek word pa·tri·a also isbroad in its scope.
God originated the family arrangement from the start by giving the first human couple the ability to pro create when he brought them together and gave them the command to multiply which they will only fullfill through the family arrangement as man and wife.

In ancient Hebrew society the family was the basic unit. The family was a small government; the father as head was responsible to God, and the mother was the subordinate manager over the children in the household. today many people try to tamper the original order by advocating women independence and power. in the original family arrangement by God, women were never supposed to be totally independent, though they were never meant to be abused or treated like filth.
Each person in the family circle has their role to fullfill and also their place in the family system well arranged by the institutor himself. a lot of families today face so many challenges because they either dont know their role in the family arrangement or they have either neglected or even abused it.
Monogamy was the original standard God set for the family. Although polygamy was later practiced, polygamy was always against the original principle that God laid down. However, he tolerated it until his due time to restore his original standard.
Under the Law covenant he recognized the existence of polygamy and regulated it so that the family unit was still kept intact and operative.

Under the Law Covenant. In giving the Ten Commandments to Israel, God gave attention to the integrity of the family unit. “Honor your father and your mother” is the fifth commandment, the first commandment with a promise.

God who is the originator of the family arrangement has been kind enough to discuss in full details how to maintain love in a family circle, he has gone so far by spelling out what every member of the family unit must do for the smooth running of the family.

To maintain love and unity in your family, reading help articles is not just enough, you have to be ready to make changes where it is needed, you need to put into practice the suggestions so that it will guide you to find true love and happiness in your family circle.

In my blog, i shall discuss in details the role of each family member in the family arrangement and also to help families who have problems to rekindle their love by appreciating their role in the family circle and doing it.

For Men – 7 Ways To Keep Your man-hood healthy!!!

ways to keep manhood healthyYou can take steps to protect your man-hood health and overall health. For example:
1. Be sexually responsible. If you are not married, abstinence is the key. Use condoms and be faithful to your partner who’s been tested and is free of sexually transmitted infections.

2. Get vaccinated. If you’re age 26 or younger, consider the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to help prevent private part warts.

3. Stay physically active. Moderate physical activity can significantly reduce your risk of erectile dysfunction.

4. Practice good hygiene. If you’re not circumcised, regularly clean beneath your foreskin with soap and water.

5. Know your medications. Discuss medication use and possible side effects with your doctor.

6. Pay attention to your mental health. Seek treatment for depression and other mental health conditions.

7. Stop smoking and limit the amount of alcohol you drink. If you smoke, take the first step and decide to quit — then ask your doctor for help.

Remember, some man-hood problems can’t be prevented. However, routinely examining your man-hood can give you greater awareness of the condition of your man-hood and help you detect changes. Regular checkups can also help ensure that problems affecting your man-hood are diagnosed as soon as possible.

While you might find it difficult to discuss problems affecting your man-hood with your doctor, don’t let embarrassment prevent you from taking charge of your health.

Obama: It's the world's 'red line' on Syria; Senate panel backs military strike plan

Barrack Obama on syria strikes(CNN) -- President Barack Obama said Wednesday that the world set a red line against chemical weapons use that he now seeks to apply to Syria, while a Senate committee approved a resolution authorizing the U.S. military attack that he is planning.

By a 10-7 vote, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee passed the resolution that authorizes a limited military response, giving Obama an initial victory in his push to win congressional approval.

The measure now goes to the full Senate for debate next week. The Democratic-led chamber is expected to pass it, but the outcome is less clear in the Republican-led House where top diplomatic and military officials made their case on Wednesday for action.

Liberal Democrats, tea party libertarians and moderates from both sides questioned Secretary of State John Kerry, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey about whether limited military attacks can change anything and if they will lead to U.S. involvement in another war.

Obama's sales pitch on Syria

Assad: From dinner partner to 'thug'

Crisis in Syria: Angst in refugee camp

'Good guys' vs. 'Bad guys' in Syria

"What are the chances of escalation? Are different scenarios accounted for? If our credibility is on the line now as is argued what about if Assad retaliates?" asked GOP Rep. Ed Royce of California, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

In Sweden on the first of a three-day overseas trip that includes the G-20 summit in Russia, Obama told reporters that the red line he spoke of last year regarding Syria's use of chemical weapons came from international treaties and past congressional action, rather than something he "made up."

Obama also insisted he had the authority to order attacks -- expected to be cruise missile strikes on Syrian military command targets -- even if Congress rejects his request for authorization.

America "recognizes that if the international community fails to maintain certain norms, standards, laws, governing how countries interact and how people are treated, that over time this world becomes less safe," Obama said. "It becomes more dangerous not only for those people who are subjected to these horrible crimes, but to all of humanity."

He cited World War II as an example, saying "the people of Europe are certainly familiar with what happens when the international community finds excuses not to act." At the same time, "as commander in chief, I always preserve the right and the responsibility to act on behalf of America's national security," Obama said.

Conservative critics have said Obama painted himself into a corner with his statement last year that Syria's use of chemical weapons was a red line that would change his approach to its civil war.

Obama: It is the world's red line

"A red line for us is we start seeing a whole bunch of chemical weapons moving around or being utilized," Obama said in August 2012. "That would change my calculus."

Kerry: Assad behind 'outrageous attack'

Senate to vote on action in Syria

'Syria is not our responsibility'

Tragic milestone in Syria refugee crisis

Now, critics on the right say, he must respond to an alleged chemical weapons attack outside Damascus by the Syrian regime that Kerry said killed more than 1,400 people or lose credibility.

The administration and top congressional leaders attempted to blunt that criticism on Tuesday during debate on Capitol Hill. Even House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, the chamber's No. 2 Republican, said any president would have drawn that red line based on international norms.

Obama made that same argument on Wednesday, saying: "I didn't set a red line. The world set a red line."

"The world set a red line when governments representing 98 percent of the world's population said the use of chemical weapons are abhorrent and passed a treaty forbidding their use, even when countries are engaged in war," he said at a joint news conference with Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt on the first day of a four-day trip that includes the G-20 summit in Russia.

"Congress set a red line when it ratified that treaty," Obama continued. "Congress set a red line when it indicated that in a piece of legislation entitled the 'Syria Accountability Act' that some of the horrendous things that are happening on the ground there need to be answered for."

Sounding exasperated, Obama added: "That wasn't something I just kind of made up. I didn't pluck it out of thin air. There's a reason for it."

Obama prods international community to act

Asked about whether he was seeking to save face, Obama insisted that "my credibility is not on the line -- the international community's credibility is on the line."

He framed the question for the United Nations and the global community at large as: "Are we going to try to find a reason not to act? And if that's the case, then I think the (world) community should admit it."

Opposition by Russia, a Syrian ally, has scuttled U.S. and British efforts to get the U.N. Security Council to authorize a military response against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

U.N. inspectors returned from Syria last week from their mission to confirm if chemical weapons were used, but Kerry said Wednesday it would take three weeks for samples collected to analyzed and results announced.

"I respect the U.N. process," Obama said while standing next to Reinfeldt, who opposes military intervention without U.N. approval.

"We agree that the international community cannot be silent," Obama added, saying also that the U.N. investigators had done "heroic work."

Noting the U.N. team's mandate was only to determine the use of chemical weapons, and not identify who used them, Obama repeated past statements that U.S. intelligence has confirmed chemical weapons use beyond any reasonable doubt and has further confirmed that al-Assad's regime "was the source."

"I do think that we have to act, because if we don't, we are effectively saying that even though we may condemn it and issue resolutions and so forth and so on, somebody who is not shamed by resolutions can continue to act with impunity," Obama said.

International norms then "begin to erode," he added, and "other despots and authoritarian regimes can start looking and say, 'that's something we can get away with.'"

He described the intended U.S. response as "limited in time and in scope, targeted at the specific task of degrading (al-Assad's) capabilities, and deterring the use of those weapons, again."

More than 100,000 killed in Syrian conflict

The United Nations has said more than 100,000 people -- including many civilians -- have been killed since the popular uprising spiraled into a civil war in 2011.

In Washington, the resolution passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee set a 60-day deadline for use of force in Syria, with an option for an additional 30 days.

An amendment accepted by the panel from Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Democratic Sen. Christopher Coons of Delaware added language to say the military response was intended to reverse Assad's battlefield momentum, a stronger objective than degrading the Syrian regime's chemical weapons capabilities as Hagel told the committee on Tuesday.

If Assad "remains in an advantageous position, he will never leave Syria," said McCain, who has been pushing for a more robust U.S. response. "He has to know that he is losing and that way you get a negotiated settlement for his departure."

The resolution also makes clear there would be no U.S. boots on the ground as part of a response in Syria.

A White House statement welcomed the panel's vote, saying "the military action authorized in the resolution would uphold America's national security interests by degrading Assad's chemical weapons capability and deterring the future use of these weapons, even as we pursue a broader strategy of strengthening the opposition to hasten a political transition in Syria."

After the vote, senators on the panel made statements that explained their thinking, with some calling for more efforts to build an international coalition before any attack takes place.

"Vietnam started with U.S. advisers and a limited Naval presence. It led to an all-out war," noted Democratic Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico, who opposed the resolution.

Kerry, Hagel and Dempsey appeared before the Senate panel on Tuesday to press for approval of authorization.

Tough questioning by House panel

The same trio then faced questions on Wednesday before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, with Royce saying the administration's Syria policy had been adrift for two years.

At the same time, Royce acknowledged there were "no easy answers" on Syria, and attempting to deter chemical weapons use was worth considering despite public skepticism for U.S. military involvement.

Kerry said Obama sought authorization for a response to the use of banned weapons, not a full military intervention.

"We are not asking America to go to war," he said. "We all agree, there will be no American boots on the ground."

In response to a question, Hagel put the cost of the limited response under consideration at "tens of millions" of dollars.

Most of the focus of administration lobbying has been on the House, where opposition by liberal Democrats and libertarian conservatives, as well as the bitterly partisan political environment of the Republican-led chamber, make passage of Obama's authorization proposal uncertain.

House Speaker John Boehner and Cantor, the No. 2 Republican, both have endorsed a U.S. military response, but Wednesday's hearing showed widespread concerns and outside opposition from across the political spectrum.

Polls also show that a majority of Americans oppose a U.S. military strike on Syria.

In the Senate, a Democratic source familiar with Majority Leader Harry Reid's thinking told CNN that Reid is confident any authorization measure will pass his chamber. The source said it is likely 60 votes will be needed to overcome a filibuster, and Reid thinks the votes are there.

Before that, however, lawmakers will hear from the Russian government, which is moving ahead with its efforts to lobby Congress in an attempt to undercut Obama on Syria. Moscow has sent an official request to congressional leaders to meet with them.

"We're planning the visit," a Russian Embassy spokesman told CNN, "We can't tell you the exact time but it will be next week."

Boehner will not meet with the Russians, his spokesman said.
